Crisis Legal Aid Fund

Acadiana Legal Service Corporation, and its regional offices of Legal Aid of North Louisiana and Legal Services of Central Louisiana, serve over 23,000 low-income Louisianans every year. As a result of the COVID-19 crisis and recent disasters, many more individuals and families now find themselves out of work or experiencing reduced income and without access to income or safety nets to meet basic needs.

Acadiana Legal Service Corporation is seeking donations for its Crisis Legal Aid Fund to provide the civil legal help these households need to survive the challenges brought on by the current COVID crisis and hurricane recovery. The unprecedented impact of COVID-19 has resulted in many Louisianans needing your help as they face life-changing challenges caused by business closures, reduced work hours, stay at home orders and illness.

The recent hurricane season has added additional need within our service area.  Tens of thousands of homes experienced from minor to major damage, with over 10,000 homes being totally destroyed.  Low-income families often take years to recover from one disaster, so imagine the effect, on those most in need, of two hurricanes back to back!

Please help Acadiana Legal Service Corporation meet the emergency and disaster recovery civil legal aid needs of your fellow citizens. Now more than ever, we need the continued support of the community to help those in need of our help.

Your donation to ALSC increases access to justice for thousands of vulnerable people in Louisiana. 19% of residents live in poverty and cannot afford basic needs. Every day, these hardworking families face difficult problems like a lack of affordable and accessible housing, wrongful evictions, domestic violence, child abuse or neglect and denials of health care or benefits.

Unlike criminal court, civil court clients do not have the right to a court appointed attorney. That’s where Acadiana Legal Service Corporation steps in!

Join the League of Justice and commit to fighting for equal justice for all by donating to Acadiana Legal Service Corporation.
