We advocate for fairness, protection, and justice.

Our priorities are at the forefront of our mission – to preserve the family, home, and individual rights; to maintain economic stability, safety, and health; to secure generational wealth; to enhance community development.

How can you help support the Bridge to Justice?

We believe that justice should never depend on how much money you have. Yet every day across Louisiana, individuals and families face eviction, domestic violence, loss of benefits, denial of healthcare – All without the legal help they need to protect their rights. With your support, ALSC can continue to meet our clients where they are – in shelters, rural communities, courthouses, and aboard our mobile Justice Buses – delivering free civil legal services that change lives.

DOMESTIC VIOLENCE SURVIVORS PROJECT

This project provides critical legal assistance to survivors of domestic violence, empowering them to break free from abuse and rebuild their lives with safety and dignity. Your donation will provide legal consultations to help survivors understand their rights and options, legal representation in court, assistance with custody arrangements, divorce, and financial support, ensuring long-term stability and justice.

THE ECONOMIC STABILITY PROJECT

Justice should be fair and accessible, yet many low-income families struggle with legal challenges affecting housing, jobs, and benefits. ALSC’s Economic Stability Project provides free legal help to those facing financial hardships, homelessness, or benefit loss. By addressing issues like child custody and domestic violence, we empower families to break the cycle of poverty. Our goal is to provide support that helps individuals regain stability, achieve independence, and build a more secure future.

THE SENIOR SAFEGUARD PROJECT

Seniors deserve respect, dignity, and the chance to live independently and securely. Many face legal challenges that threaten their well-being and peace of mind. The Senior Safeguard Project provides free legal services to help elderly individuals with issues like estate planning, guardianship, healthcare, elder abuse and housing. Our goal is to support seniors with the legal help they need to protect their rights and live with security. We are committed to ensuring they can age with grace, independence, and peace of mind.

CHILD IN NEED OF CARE PROJECT

Every child deserves a safe, loving home. The Child in Need of Care (CINC) Project protects children under 18 who face abuse, neglect, or unsafe conditions. ALSC provides free legal support to families and caregivers, advocating for the child’s best interests and guiding them through the court process. Our goal is to ensure every child has the opportunity to grow up in a stable, permanent, and nurturing environment.

CLIENT ASSISTANCE FUND

ALSC offers free legal help to low-income clients, but some unavoidable costs can come up, such as court filing fees, document processing, expert witness fees, and specialized service fees. These expenses can make it harder for clients facing issues like eviction, domestic violence, or loss of benefits to get the help they need. Your donation helps cover these critical costs, removing barriers to justice and ensuring every client has a fair chance at stability and safety.

LEGAL FELLOWSHIP PROGRAM

At ALSC, our mission is to make justice accessible to everyone, regardless of income or circumstance. We are launching an initiative that supports our work and provides new and aspiring attorneys with the opportunity to make a real impact in our community. This initiative will give emerging legal professionals valuable experience while strengthening our ability to serve individuals facing urgent legal challenges, helping to create change for those who need it most.

Our Impact in 2023 includes over 10K persons served in our service area.

Whether it’s helping a veteran secure housing, assisting a senior with a benefits appeal, or representing a parent fighting for custody and safety, your partnership ensures that vulnerable Louisianans do not face these challenges alone.
