SNAP Benefits Updates for 2026.

Changes to SNAP Benefits approved on August 4, 2025, have been in effect since February 18, 2026. The Louisiana Department of Health (LDH) shared a press release about the new SNAP healthy food waiver. The waiver aims to strengthen access to nutritious foods and support healthier futures for Louisiana families. The SNAP food restriction waiver is intended to help families make healthier choices. It currently does not allow the purchase of:
– Sugary sodas
– Energy drinks
– Candy

Was your SNAP application denied, or were your benefits cut off or reduced? You can request legal aid for SNAP appeals. Before you apply, gather paperwork that may help. This can include letters or notices about your SNAP benefits, recent pay stubs, and a recent bank statement.
