Protecting and Preserving Your Future

We help with legal issues like bankruptcy, debt collection, credit problems, and planning for the future. Our goal is to help you take back control of your financial situation and protect what you leave behind for your loved ones.

Chapter 7 Bankruptcy

We provide help for Chapter 7 bankruptcy if your wages are being garnished. If you’re a homeowner or need Chapter 13 bankruptcy assistance, we can provide guidance and connect you with the right resources.

Collections

If you have been sued for a debt, give us a call. You only have a few days after you are served with a lawsuit to respond in writing in court, or else the business or individual suing you can win a default judgment.

Contracts/Warranties

Did you buy something that doesn’t work or pay someone to do a job they never finished? We can give you legal advice and may be able to help you work out a fair solution.

EXPUNGEMENTS

We represent people in expungements if they have a type of arrest or conviction that can be expunged. If you are in doubt, give us a call. If we cannot file an expungement for you, we can provide you with some advice.

Power of Attorney

A power of attorney lets someone else make legal, medical, or money decisions for you. We help you choose the right kind and can create the document for you.

Wills and Estates

Looking to obtain a will or learn more about estate planning? We will guide you through the process of creating the appropriate documents for your situation.

Claiming Ownership

WENDY’S STORY

Wendy, recently widowed, needed to update the ownership on her home to avoid legal action taken by her mortgage company. Our attorneys helped clear her title by succession. We connected with her adult children and processed all five donations of the land and home to Wendy, and now she has ownership to conduct business with her mortgage company.

Online Resources

Acadiana Legal Service Corporation partners with many resources across Louisiana to provide you with the most current legal education available. We offer a wide range of topics to help you find the legal information you need. Browse our brochures and connect with our partners for more legal topics to help you understand if you have a civil legal issue and whether you want to pursue legal action as a self-represented litigant (SRL) or hire an attorney. All legal resources, including articles and court forms, available on our website can help you better understand and advocate for your rights. However, these resources should not replace legal advice from qualified attorneys licensed in Louisiana who are familiar with your specific legal issue. Always seek legal advice directly from a lawyer.
