Acadiana Legal Service Corporation (ALSC) is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization whose mission is “to provide exceptional civil legal services by advocating for fairness, protection, and justice for our disadvantaged client community.” ALSC is committed to improving the lives of marginalized low-income and elderly clients with civil legal matters throughout our service area, covering 42 parishes in north, central, and southwest Louisiana. ALSC focuses on various civil law issues including Family Law, Child in Need of Care, Disaster Recovery, Domestic Violence, Public Benefits, Elder Law, Successions, Housing, and Consumer Law. Nature of Work

This position provides crucial support to the Office Manager in managing multiple office locations. The responsibilities encompass a wide range of administrative tasks, including data and supply management and office support.

General Duties

Duties may include and are not limited to:

  • Oversee the office administrative needs of assigned office location(s)
  • Typing memos and letters, filling out disbursement and supply forms, and other documents as needed
  • Filing disbursement and supply requests, correspondence, and telephone logs
  • Organize and file various materials and relevant office correspondence
  • Monitor postage needs to ensure uninterrupted mail services
  • Coordinate vehicle sign-out, mileage log sheets, and gas cards
  • Maintain an adequate inventory of office supplies, ensuring seamless day-to-day operations
  • Initiate service calls for the maintenance of office equipment to ensure their optimal functioning
  • Coordinate vehicle sign-out, mileage log sheets, and gas cards
  • Collaborate with the Office Manager to facilitate the smooth operation of administrative services
  • Assume Receptionist duties when needed and perform other office duties as assigned

Necessary Knowledge, Abilities and Skills

  • Ability to exercise discretion, on and off duty, in protecting confidential information
  • General knowledge of secretarial procedures and practices
  • Accuracy in English, spelling, vocabulary usage
  • General knowledge of modern office practices, procedures, systems, and equipment
  • Good oral communication skills are required
  • Initiative to complete routine tasks accurately and with little supervision
  • Ability to type 55 correct wpm; file alphabetically and numerically
  • Ability to establish and maintain an effective working relationship with staff and the public
  • Ability to understand and follow oral and/or written instructions
  • Ability to display a cooperative and positive attitude in the work environment
  • Demonstrated ability to meet job expectations with limited supervision
  • A professional, courteous demeanor, with a strong commitment to serving low-income clients

Minimum Qualifications

  • High school diploma from an accredited institution
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in secretarial and clerical work
  • Preferably completed supplemental courses in bookkeeping, typewriting, or general business from an accredited university or business school
  • Prior experience in supervising senior attorneys, paralegals, or support staff is desirable.

Salary starts at $31,980.00
